All our chopping boards come in an organic cotton drawstring bag with a handy care sheet .
For everyday use
Ensure crumbs are removed, use a pad or a brush to rub lightly with warm soapy water over the side you have used. Soak up any water on the board with a damp cloth or pad. Make sure once all the residue is soaked off your board it needs to dry effectively. To do this place it on a drying rack or stand it up right on its edge to dry on the worktop.
Never place your wet board face down on the worktop this will make your board warp in no time.
The best way to deep clean your board after lots of action is to use a light pad and mild washing liquid, once scrubbed rinse only in water. Make sure to never soak your board in water. Once excess water is removed use half a lemon and course salt to scrub lightly over the surface, this will remove any nasty smells or stains. Use a damp pad to remove the lemon and salt and leave to dry as mentioned above.
Your board will go through daily action so it is very important to keep it clean but cleaning also removes the oils, these need replenishing often to ensure your board doesn’t warp and go brittle. Oak absorbs oil very well so it’s hard to over do it!
We recommend oiling your board monthly or after every deep clean. The best oil to use is a mineral oil this is natural and easy to purchase. When oiling use a dry cloth or your hands to rub the oil into the board on both sides let it fully dry and absorb overnight before using again.
